Your sightseeing will begin with a 30-minute drive along the road linking the Gulfs of Alghero and Porto Conte to arrive at the archaeological site of Nuraghe Palmavera , with its 2-story stone towers. The main tower dates back to 1100 B.C., and features an irregular, elliptical-shaped fascia. The second tower is connected to a central courtyard. A defensive fortification surrounds the whole complex with four towers marking the boundary of an ancient village. You will then head to the scenic viewpoint of Capo Caccia , an excellent vantage point of sea and shore, before heading back to Alghero. As the Aragonese landed here during the 14th century, their Catalan influence remains vibrantly alive in Alghero's streets, shops, language, lifestyle, food, and traditions. Your 1 1/4-hour guided walk will pass ancient monuments, old fortifications, historic buildings,and beautiful churches before concluding at the tender pier. Board your motor coach for the 75-minute drive to the charming town of Bosa , located at the mouth of the river Temo. You will see the well-ordered streets, square, riverside promenade, and the Old Quarter . Bosa is the center of olive oil and wine production and is also famous for lace and filigrana jewelry and art. You will have free time to wander the streets of Bosa and possibly find a craft shop where these beautiful crafts are produced. Rejoin your group for a Malvasia wine and cookies tasting . Malvasia wine is produced in western Sardinia. These grapes are used to produce white (and more rarely red) table wines, dessert and fortified wines. After your wine tasting, you will return to Alghero. Please note : The road to Bosa is a winding one. Wear comfortable walking shoes. This tour is not wheelchair accessible. You will have some free time to explore the town at leisure before reboarding the coach to head to the Agriturismo . Travelling inland and crossing through the countryside you will reach the Agriturismo, where a local shepherd will demonstrate how pecorino cheese is produced. Sardinian cheesemaking has evolved over the centuries and has been an integral part of Sardinian life for the past 5,000 years. The island makes 80% of Italy's famous pecorino romano, one of the oldest cheeses around. After the cheese demonstration, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a local lunch with a Sardinia menu.
