Venice, Historic Venice and Doges Palace *

St. Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco) is the heart and soul of Venice. Transfer by motor launch from the pier to St. Mark's Square, where your guided walking tour will begin. Your guide will point out the major landmarks, which include the Campanile (bell tower), the Clock Tower from the 15th century and St. Mark's Cathedral . The Byzantine facade of St. Mark's Cathedral, one of the world's most magnificent churches, will immediately claim your attention. The exterior's domes, pinnacles, and bronze horses contrast with a glowing interior of gold mosaics, elaborate carvings, and graceful statues. Your tour will continue to the exquisite Doge's Palace , the seat of the Venetian government from the 9th century until 1797. Climb the famous Golden Staircase to marvel at the paintings of Tintoretto and Veronese , and wander through the echoing Great Council Chamber where you can enjoy a splendid panorama of the St. Mark's Basin from the balcony. Crossing the famous Bridge of Sighs , you will arrive at the prison across from the Rio De Palazzo to view the cells. In the square below are small workshops of glass manufacturers and you will stop here to shop. Upon completion of the tour, you may stay in town and return to the ship independently, or return directly to the ship via motor launch. Please note : Comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and water are recommended.

Venice, Canals of Venice *

Explore the Serenissima city cruising the maze of its canals. You will depart from your yacht by motor launch and start your tour from the Cannaregio, Misericordia , and Noale Canals ; then, enter the Grand Canal where you will see the beautiful Ca' D'Oro, a wonderful example of Venetian Gothic architecture and Rialto Bridge , built in 1588 and for 300 hundred years the only means of crossing the Grand Canal on foot. Proceed to Ca' Rezzonico , one of the most splendid Baroque palaces in Venice, now housing the Museum of 18th century Venice . Reach St. Mark's Basin and re-enter the side canals of Rio dei Greci and Rio dei Mendicanti . Continue to the Arsenal , the ancient shipyard of Venice and see the ancient Church of San Pietro di Castello, before rounding the St. Elena Islands . Venice Orientation Lagoon Tour with Transfer to Airport *

Disembark, meet your tour guide and drop off your luggage at their storage facility to start the tour. Venice is composed of more than 100 tiny islets, packed closely together around canals. Venice city is in a lagoon, protected from the sea by a long strip of land called the Lido. You will visit two islands- Murano and Burano . Nearly half of the lagoon's islands are deserted but the main islands of Burano, Murano and Torcello are well worth a visit. In 1291, when furnaces were banned from Venice as a fire precaution, the manufacturers of fine glassware were transferred to Murano. Glassware was one of the few Venetian exports and as such, the secrets of this skillful craft were tightly guarded. Glassmaking was considered a privileged occupation, and glass artisans were allowed to marry into the nobility. Today, the Murano products of blown-glass mirrors, chandeliers, goblets, and intricate works of art are renowned worldwide. There will be time for a visit to one of the many workshops and for shopping. The island of Burano will be next. Brightly painted houses decorate this small and cheerful fishing village. You will board your motor coach for the 90-minute drive to Pnsici Village and the Cetina River. For thousands of years the Cetina River has been crafting a beautiful canyon, creating miraculous forms in the stone of its riverbed. The 590-foot cliffs, cascades, lakes, underground tunnels and the 131-foot-high Gubavica Waterfall are on the agenda today. Leaving the town of Split, you will take a 75-minute drive by coach to the famous Krka River Waterfalls . Located in lovely Krka National Park , the falls cascade over 17 natural barriers. Krka is one of the seven National Parks in Croatia and was formed to protect the Krka River. The whole area is rich with endemic species - vegetation as well as birds and fish. This tour will take you to the most attractive part of the park - the Skradinski Buk Waterfalls. The highest waterfall is 151 feet high which makes it the highest gypsum barrier in Europe . Above the falls there is a large plateau that offers spectacular views of the area. The road will take you to the picturesque village of Njegusi where you will enjoy local snacks that consist of smoked ham, cheese, homemade bread, and wine.Rejoin the coach and proceed to the town of Cetinje , to visit the Museum of King Nikola . Then follow the scenic route through the popular summer resort of the Budva Riviera , as you head back to Kotor. Kotor's Old Quarter was developed within a small triangular area enclosed by town walls. Your experienced guide will direct your attention to the structures that were built by the Venetians from the 15th to mid-18th centuries. They completely enclose the Old Town and form a unique fortification capable of resisting lengthy attacks and sieges. You will then continue to see the exterior of the 12th century Cathedral of St. Triphon , which features a Romanesque basilica whose nave is separated from the aisles by alternating square pillars and antique columns. Please note : There are 40 steps to enter the Museum of King Nikola. Wear comfortable walking shoes as there will be some walking on cobblestones. The drive from Kotor to Njegusi Village includes driving over a narrow mountain road with 24 switchbacks. Guests easily affected by motion sickness will need to take this into consideration.

Many of its narrow cobblestone streets are closed to traffic, making the main part of Taormina accessible only by foot. For those with an appreciation of "The Godfather" series, many of the places visited in this tour will seem familiar. Leaving the pier by coach, you will begin with a brief drive through Messina for a 45-minute drive via the freeway and then motor along the coastal road bordered by villas, flowering gardens, and picturesque villages to reach Savoca . Its scenic beauty and historical-artistic heritage makes Savoca, one of the most attractive and unknown places of Sicily. In a private house in the village, "Bar Vitelli," houses a collection of local artisans' tools and photographs taken when Francis Ford Coppola shot scenes of "The Godfather II." After a typical refreshment begin a walking tour along the village's main street past two Churches of the 15th and 16th centuries, ( Santa Lucia and San Michele ) and to enjoy the view over the valley. Continue to Forza d'Agro, a 20-minute drive towards Taormina , a charming little village overlooking the Arab-Norman castle of Capo Sant'Alessio. In 1990, Al Pacino and Sophia Coppola arrived there to shoot scenes for the film, "The Godfather III." From the main square, a lane leads up to the circular steps, which ascend to the Gothic-Catalan portal in front of the Church of St. Agostino also known as "Triade. Sorrento, Herculaneum *

The city of Herculaneum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was founded around the 4th century B.C., copying the geometric regularity of the layout of Naples. Its "decumani" (main streets) have an east-west orientation, while the "cardines" (narrower streets) run north-south. There is undeniably a "feeling" about Herculaneum, quite different from Pompeii, where you get the impression that its ancient population of 5,000 packed up and left only moments ago. Herculaneum was smaller than Pompeii but is better preserved simply because, while hot ashes consumed the wood of Pompeii's buildings, Herculaneum was covered by hot mud which sealed and protected entire city blocks. This means that marble floors, mosaics, paintings and carbonized woods can still be admired today. You will discover the ancient luxurious properties and villas including the House of the Mosaic , the House of Deer , the Thermae (baths) and the House of Carbonized Furniture .
