Raiatea, "The Sacred Island," is located just across the lagoon from Tahaa and shares the same barrier reef. (Legend claims the two were a single island until a conger eel possessed by the spirit of a princess separated them.) It used to be the center of religion and culture in the Society Islands. Taputapuatea, on the southeast coast, was once the most important marae around, the place where kings from the neighboring islands would gather for important ceremonies. Uturoa, the main town, reminds some people of Papeete in its younger days with its quaint low-rise buildings. Raiatea is also home to the only navigable river in the islands, the Fa'aroa. Explore Polynesian history or climb Mount Temehani in search of the rare tiare apetahi flower, which grows only here.

Puerto Caldera: San Jose City Tour with Transfer to Windstar Hotel

Arriving to San Jose, the capital and largest city in Costa Rica, San Jose has a lot to offer its visitors that hail from around the world. It is a contrasted city with exhilarating expressions of history, traditions, art and architecture. The tour will begin with an initial orientation and drive through the beautiful Sabana Park. Next, you will take a walking tour through the historic National Theater. Completed in 1897, the theater is a masterpiece in art and architecture. Afterwards, you will visit one of the many unique museums of Costa Rica, The Pre-Columbian Gold Museum which has an extraordinary collection of gold objects that reflect the world view, social structure, and gold-working techniques of the Pre-Columbian peoples of Costa Rica. The exhibition showcases the use and function of the pieces, the technology of their fabrication, and their relationship to the natural world and the daily life of these societies. The collection consists of 1,600 pieces of Pre-Columbian gold work that date from 500 A.D. to 1500 A.D. After this extraordinary museum tour, you will continue heading to the National Museum, Atlantic Ferrocarril Station . Rail transport in Costa Rica is under the ownership of Instituto Costarricense de Ferrocarriles (INCOFER). The Estación al Atlántico (Atlantic Station) today serves as the San José hub for the commuter train to Heredia and Cartago provinces. You will be transferred to your Windstar Hotel. Please note : Travel will be along winding roads. There may be a stop to drop off Windstar guests at the airport before the final stop at the Windstar Hotel.

Never before has a cruise ship guest had an all access pass to the most amazing fauna conservation effort in the country and had the chance to interact first hand with all the wildlife imaginable; toucans, hawks, monkeys, sloths, tamanduas, ant eaters, and parrots are some of the few animals you may encounter in this magical location where the foundation is working endlessly to restore all of these animals to good health so they can later be released back into the wild. At the conclusion of your unforgettable morning, you'll re-board your private coach and enjoy a delightful 30-minute ride through the countryside to Brasil de Mora, situated on the outskirts of San José. At Costa Rica's Craft Brewing Co . you will see first-hand how Costa Ricans have integrated their "pura vida" lifestyle into what has been considered one of the 100 best breweries in the world and see first-hand how the process to make quality beer is developed, and above all get to enjoy a beer tasting session with these fine brews. This program is for the guest who wants to experience SCUBA diving for the first time , or for the guest with no dive certification. You will have a great experience, and receive lots of personal attention. Dives will take place at one of the following three sites (weather dependent) Tap u: An ocean dive and one of the most famous dive sites of Bora Bora. From the coral drop-off, you will meet lemon sharks, black tip sharks, humphead maori wrasses, moray eels, turtles. Toopua : A lagoon dive where many tropical fish gather along the wall, among others, anemones and clown fish. At the bottom, you find a large sand bank where eagle rays and sting rays wander searching for food. You will anchor or drift dive depending on the weather conditions. Get ready for a leisure E-Bike ride along the coastline of Huahine. Your tour departs from the pier where you will be fitted with your E-Bike and a helmet. After an introductory course on how to use the E-Bike, depart for a guided leisure biking ride towards the east of the island. Dive into this magnificent lagoon - there's no need to be a skilled diver to swim freely in the warm waters and enjoy this experience. The boat will take you near a gorgeous sandy islet surrounded by transparent turquoise waters. You will be able to enjoy time for snorkeling and even glide with the stingrays in these clear waters. As with all creatures in their natural environment, there is no guarantee you will see stingrays, and tickets are non-refundable should a sighting not occur. Guests may remain in the boat, but from there viewing will be limited. Please note : There are some stairs involved so aqua shoes are recommended. Guests should be accustomed to wearing snorkel equipment and coping with occasional currents. While snorkel equipment is available (mask & snorkel), it is recommended you bring your own for maximum comfort. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. Enjoy an adventure full of fun onboard a Waverunner jet ski through the clear waters of Moorea! You will be transferred from the pier to the Activity Center where you will receive your safety and operating instructions from your guide. Then, it's off to enjoy your ride! Led by your guide, you will see some amazing views of the mountain and the lagoon of "Gecko Island." Along the way, a stop will be made at a motu islet for an opportunity to swim and/or enjoy a pause with some local refreshment. Snorkeling is an option here since the place boasts a lovely coral garden. Continue on to the shallow waters of the lagoon for a close encounter with the stingrays and black tip sharks populating the lagoon. Board a 4-wheel-drive vehicle for a ride through Moorea's deep valleys and mountains. In the Paopao Valley you'll pass some pineapple plantations, then cross to the territorial property of Opunohu. A stop at one of the numerous marae (ancient, sacred site) will allow you to learn more about Polynesian culture. Continue to the Belvedere Lookout point for a panoramic view of Cook and Opunohu Bays, weather dependent you will get an impressive panorama from here. Return through the interior trails of the Rotui Mountain and get acquainted with the local flora. A stop on the way will allow you to enjoy a refreshment. Viewpoints will be part of your drive and give you multiple opportunities for photographs. Some of the venues may be closed on weekends and holidays, alternative routes will be used according to availability.
