Venice, Islands of Venetian Lagoon - Murano & Burano *

Venice is composed of more than 100 tiny islets, packed closely together around canals. Venice city is in a lagoon, protected from the sea by a long strip of land. Today you will visit two islands-Murano and Burano. In 1291, when furnaces were banned from Venice as a fire precaution, the manufacturers of fine glassware were transferred to Murano . Glassware was one of the few Venetian exports and as such, the secrets of this skillful craft were tightly guarded. Today, the Murano products of blown-glass mirrors, chandeliers, goblets and intricate works of art are renowned worldwide. There will be time for a visit to one of the many glassblowing workshops and for shopping. The island of Burano has brightly painted houses decorating this small and cheerful fishing village. Burano is well known for its lace-making. In the 16th century, the lace industry was at its peak, and Burano was cited throughout Europe for producing the finest lace. You will have the chance to admire these beautiful works that require hours of labor, and maybe even purchase some, if you like. At the end, a motor launch will transfer you back to the yacht. Venice, Historic Venice and Doges Palace *

St. Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco) is the heart and soul of Venice. Transfer by motor launch from the pier to St. Mark's Square, where your guided walking tour will begin. Your guide will point out the major landmarks, which include the Campanile (bell tower), the Clock Tower from the 15th century and St. Mark's Cathedral . The Byzantine facade of St. Mark's Cathedral, one of the world's most magnificent churches, will immediately claim your attention. The exterior's domes, pinnacles, and bronze horses contrast with a glowing interior of gold mosaics, elaborate carvings, and graceful statues. Your tour will continue to the exquisite Doge's Palace , the seat of the Venetian government from the 9th century until 1797. You will board your motor coach for the 90-minute drive to Pnsici Village and the Cetina River. For thousands of years the Cetina River has been crafting a beautiful canyon, creating miraculous forms in the stone of its riverbed. Split, Krka National Park Highlights *

Leaving the town of Split, you will take a 75-minute drive by coach to the famous Krka River Waterfalls . Located in lovely Krka National Park , the falls cascade over 17 natural barriers. Krka is one of the seven National Parks in Croatia and was formed to protect the Krka River. The whole area is rich with endemic species - vegetation as well as birds and fish. This tour will take you to the most attractive part of the park - the Skradinski Buk Waterfalls. The highest waterfall is 151 feet high which makes it the highest gypsum barrier in Europe . Above the falls there is a large plateau that offers spectacular views of the area. Your guided visit to the park will include a small ethnological exhibit and the old mill which is still in use.There is a path around the falls and you will have two hours of free time to explore before your 75-minute drive back to Split. Kotor, Highlights of Montenegro *

From the port of Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site , a motor coach will take you on a panoramic tour. You will ascend steep slopes up the serpentine road with 25 curves to Lovcen Mountain, through an area of beautiful contrasts. The soaring Montenegrin mountains tower on one side, while opposite them is the sublime beauty of one of the world's most attractive bays. The road will take you to the picturesque village of Njegusi where you will enjoy local snacks that consist of smoked ham, cheese, homemade bread, and wine.Rejoin the coach and proceed to the town of Cetinje , to visit the Museum of King Nikola . Then follow the scenic route through the popular summer resort of the Budva Riviera , as you head back to Kotor. Kotor's Old Quarter was developed within a small triangular area enclosed by town walls. Your experienced guide will direct your attention to the structures that were built by the Venetians from the 15th to mid-18th centuries. They completely enclose the Old Town and form a unique fortification capable of resisting lengthy attacks and sieges. You will then continue to see the exterior of the 12th century Cathedral of St. Triphon , which features a Romanesque basilica whose nave is separated from the aisles by alternating square pillars and antique columns. Please note : There are 40 steps to enter the Museum of King Nikola. Wear comfortable walking shoes as there will be some walking on cobblestones. Once arrived at Ivanova Korita, located at the foot of Mount Lovcen National Park, and after a tour introduction and safety briefing you will receive your helmet, board your 2-person ATV and take the asphalt road towards the Ivanov Konak restaurant, from where you will take the Austro - Hungarian off road for 5 miles (8km) across Lovcen Mountain National Park. During this tour you will enjoy the beautiful refreshing shadow of the thick beech forest that embraces the road like a tunnel. Your excursion begins with a 30-minute drive to the small Baroque village of Perast for a walking tour in this pedestrian only village. See the Cathedral of St. Nicholas and other monuments including the Parish Church , the 12th century Sveti Djordje Church , and the Sveti Nikola Church , built between the 15th and 17th centuries . In a local restaurant, you'll taste some typical sweets , made from an original recipe used during the Baroque period. You will have some free time before boarding a private motor boat to Gospa od Skrpjela , a Baroque-style church situated on one of two islets in the bay of Kotor, across from Perast. The islet is man made, and its original church was built in 1452. You'll view the stunning present church,Our Lady of the Rocks, built in 1632, and enlarged in 1722. You'll see 68 magnificent paintings by Tripo Kokolja, a famous 17th century Baroque artist from Perast whose most important painting, The Death of the Virgin, is nearly 33 feet long. Rejoin your bus for the return drive back to Kotor for a city walking tour through UNESCO protected Old Kotor . You will get a unique opportunity to discover the secrets behind producing organic olive oil as the Moric family are the only business in the area currently producing organic olive oil. Take a short walk through the olive grove, before visiting their new, modern olive press. Afterwards, when you see the old olive press, you'll understand how the new system has made life a lot easier! At the old mill you'll have the opportunity to sample the olive oil, with Ilija Moric on hand to answer any questions you may have. This tour will give you the opportunity to visit the resort town of Taormina, considered one of the most beautiful destinations in Sicily. The excursion will begin with the short journey by minibus to Taormina. Leave your minibus near the center of Taormina, and set out on foot as your guide will lead you along cobblestone streets to the Palazzo Corvaja, a 15th century building adorned with classic double windows. From there it will be a short walk to the amazing and impressive Greco-Roman theatre that is Taormina's iconic landmark . Like the town, the theatre dates back to the 3rd century BC. The Greeks did an incredible job of siting it - its width and acoustic qualities are so inimitable that it is still used for open-air concerts today. The Romans, who came later, did some work on the theatre but even they were unable to vastly improve on the original. Explore the theatre, and make sure you turn around and appreciate the astounding view of Mount Etna looming above the town and the Bay of Naxos below. Once the guided visit is done, spend some free time independently exploring Taormina's main street, Corso Umberto. By bus you will reach the port of Giardini Naxos , board a boat and motor out into the bay. Your destination is the fabled Blue Grotto. Glide slowly into this sea cave to witness the famed blue glow that reflects off the water. Afterwards, snack on fresh almond cookies before heading to the inviting waters off Isla Bella for a refreshing swim. Dry off and enjoy the scenic cruise back to the pier. Founded in the 6th century B.C. by Greeks from Naples, Taormina was subsequently taken over by the Romans. Many of its narrow cobblestone streets are closed to traffic, making the main part of Taormina accessible only by foot. Your guide will take you on a guided walk that includes the Piazza Vittorio Emanuele and the bustling main street of Corso Umberto , lined with former mansions of enchanting architecture and balconies that brim with flowers. Stop briefly in the inner courtyard of the medieval Corvaja Palace and enjoy the panoramic views of the bay and snow-capped Mount Etna in the distance as you gaze from the balcony of Piazza IX Aprile. Follow your guide up the narrow street that leads to the Greco-Roman Theatre . Taormina's most famous antique dates back to the 2nd and 3rd centuries B.C. and still hosts performances today. The theatre's dramatic location is nothing less than breathtaking. The tiny village of Castelmola is strategically located near Taormina, a splendid site with panoramic views. The focus of the village is the attractive Piazzetta del Duomo with its fine, intricate paving. From various points there are wonderful views of Mount Etna, the north coast and the beaches below. Giardini Naxos, In the Godfathers Steps *

For those with an appreciation of "The Godfather" series, many of the places visited in this tour will seem familiar. Leaving the pier by coach, you will begin with a brief drive through Messina for a 45-minute drive via the freeway and then motor along the coastal road bordered by villas, flowering gardens, and picturesque villages to reach Savoca . Its scenic beauty and historical-artistic heritage makes Savoca, one of the most attractive and unknown places of Sicily. In a private house in the village, "Bar Vitelli," houses a collection of local artisans' tools and photographs taken when Francis Ford Coppola shot scenes of "The Godfather II." After a typical refreshment begin a walking tour along the village's main street past two Churches of the 15th and 16th centuries, ( Santa Lucia and San Michele ) and to enjoy the view over the valley. Continue to Forza d'Agro, a 20-minute drive towards Taormina , a charming little village overlooking the Arab-Norman castle of Capo Sant'Alessio. In 1990, Al Pacino and Sophia Coppola arrived there to shoot scenes for the film, "The Godfather III." From the main square, a lane leads up to the circular steps, which ascend to the Gothic-Catalan portal in front of the Church of St. Agostino also known as "Triade. The city of Herculaneum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was founded around the 4th century B.C., copying the geometric regularity of the layout of Naples. Its "decumani" (main streets) have an east-west orientation, while the "cardines" (narrower streets) run north-south. There is undeniably a "feeling" about Herculaneum, quite different from Pompeii, where you get the impression that its ancient population of 5,000 packed up and left only moments ago. Herculaneum was smaller than Pompeii but is better preserved simply because, while hot ashes consumed the wood of Pompeii's buildings, Herculaneum was covered by hot mud which sealed and protected entire city blocks. This means that marble floors, mosaics, paintings and carbonized woods can still be admired today. You will discover the ancient luxurious properties and villas including the House of the Mosaic , the House of Deer , the Thermae (baths) and the House of Carbonized Furniture . Start your walk from the pier with your guide, viewing the elegant shops and boutiques that surround the charming piazzetta along the way. You will walk by the church to the hiking path. The itinerary of the hike can vary depending on your guide, on the weather and path conditions and on the fellow guests in your group. The first half of the tour is mostly an uphill walk if your tour goes towards Cappelletta, San Sebastiano and Olmi , to reach Molini . You will pass elegant villas nestled among rich tropical vegetation and olive trees. Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is also a National Park and Protected Marine Area. Clinging to the Ligurian cliffs on the west coast of Italy are five castles at nearly the same distance from one another - Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. Today you will see two of these sites as the ancient mariners had - from the sea. Depart from the pier heading to Cinque Terre, or five lands, and marvel as you approach the beautiful coast with villages suspended above the sea , almost defying gravity. Pass the scenic Tigullio Gulf and Poet's Gulf, with terraced vineyards alive with the aroma of olive trees blended with the fresh ocean breeze. Arrive at the village of Vernazza, where you will disembark the vessel and begin a guided walking tour of this 1st century village. Begin this excursion with a scenic drive to Le Castellet - a typical Provençal hilltop village above the vineyards. Drive to Cassis via the coastal road where you will find a delightful landscape of limestone cliffs. On arrival in Cassis, board a little shuttle train or a shuttle bus for the ride to the village. View the town's old 17th and 18th century houses during the ride to the downtown area. The quaint village lies in an attractive setting at the end of a bay where the valley comes down to the sea. It is a popular summer resort and a hub for summer boat trips along the Calanques National Park and creeks . The village is known for the quality of its fish and other seafood; the sea urchins accompanied by Cassis white wine are a local delicacy. You will enjoy some free time during your visit in Cassis to do some shopping - arts and crafts merchants, boutiques and cafés fill the quays around the port of the village. Palamos, Cycling to Pals *

During this tour, you'll see a great diversity of scenary such as rough coves on the coasts, forests, fields and medieval villages ... and without much effort! You will leave the port with the e-bikes, and head towards la Fosca, a pretty little beach with beautiful views. Continue the route cycling along the greenway called "Ruta del Tren Petit ," which used to be a narrow-gauge railway line. Head north, where you'll cycle along agricultural roads. As a backdrop, appreciate les Gavarres, a mass of of hilly woodlands that is important for the production of cork. Cycle through the plain of the Empordà and finally arrive at the medieval village of Pals. Its old center is dominated by a Roman Tower built between the 11th and 13th centuries. The residence became a Carthusian monastery in the Middle Ages and your guide will show you the chapel, a pharmacy, and the monks' library. Valldemossa's shining moment was in 1838, when George Sand and Frederic Chopin came to live at the monastery. Their stay here is well documented and a collection of their furniture remains. George Sand later wrote a book about their time here, entitled "A Winter in Majorca." You'll begin your ride (after an introduction to the operation of the Segway) at Plaza de la Marina , in the center of Málaga. This spectacular feat of engineering is 233 feet (71 meters) in length, across a 164-foot (50-meter)-deep gorge, affording magnificent views across the bay and city of Gibraltar. The Rock's Apes spring to mind at the mention of the Rock of Gibraltar and here is where your next stop will take you. You will take a short walk down to King Charles V Wall, better known as 'Ape's Den' which seems to be a usual habitat of the apes, which are indeed a breed of tailless monkeys (Macaca Sylvanus), that roam free on the rocky slopes. They are endearing creatures with a penchant for handbags to say nothing of cameras and hats. Reboard your bus, which will take you on a short drive to Princess Caroline's Battery, a former artillery battery located at the northern end of the Gibraltar Nature Reserve. It was constructed in 1732 and named after the third daughter of King George II. You will be transferred to the City Hall, to visit the Mayor's Parlour and enjoy some cold canapes and beverages. You will then be given some time to roam the building in its entirety including the National Art Gallery. Have your cameras ready as you are allowed to take photos of all the works of art which are on display. Who knows, if you are lucky, you might even run into His Worship the Mayor of Gibraltar and get a chance to have a chat with him and even take a photo with him.
