Lipari, Vulcano by Boat with Hiking *

The island of Vulcano, once called Hierò Thermessa is one of the most interesting in the Aeolian archipelago because of the exceptional nature of its landscapes and the variety of its landscapes and the variety of its volcanic phenomena. Dedicated to Vulcan, the Roman god of fire and metal working; Homer described the island as the workshop of Hephaestus, the Greek god of fire. Your tour will begin with a boat trip around the island with a breathtaking view of the Faraglioni ,Grotta del Cavallo, and Vulcanello . The only landing place is the Porto di Levante. Vulcano consists of three old craters. The first, in the south between Monte Aria and Monte Saraceno, has been extinct for centuries; the GranCratere , on the other hand, is still active, the last eruption occurring in 1890. Vulcanello, the third crater, is a promontory on the north eastern tip of the island created almost 2,000 years ago by an eruption. The climb up to the middle crater is particularly interesting and you can reach the top in less than an hour. Please note: The hike to the volcano is only recommended for fit people as a lot of uphill walking is involved. Wear walking shoes, bring a change of clothes and bottled water.

Lipari Island and Pizza Demonstration *

Departing the pier by motor coach you will begin your sightseeing tour of Lipari. For the next 90 minutes you will make stops at s ome of the best viewpoints on the island, offering magnificent vistas of the Aeolian Archipelago. Then it's off to a local pizzeria, where the owners enthusiastically demonstrate how to make traditional Sicilian pizza . You'll have the opportunity to try your hand at making your very own pizza , according to your own personal taste. Finally, you will sit down to enjoy your creation accompanied with wine and Aeolian cookies, before returning to your yacht. Please note : This tour is not suitable for people with walking difficulties, since much uphill walking is involved on cobblestone and gravel pathways.

Trapani, Walking Tour with Sicilian Coffee Break *

Trapani is an attractive old port town, rediscovering its charms after years of neglect. Halfway between Europe and Tunis, it was a rich trading center throughout the early Middle Ages, then, flourished again in the 19th and early 20th centuries as a stronghold of the tuna-canning industry. After that, it went into decline, and became a salty old port. Then, it was selected to host the 2004 America's Cup and received a massive injection of cash - buildings were restored, streets in the historic center pedestrianized - giving the town and its people a new confidence. These days Trapani is a thoroughly pleasant place to hang out for a couple of days. You will join your guide for a pleasant walking visit of the historical center of Trapani, with its many churches and palazzos with their ornate façades and elaborate interior, perfect examples of the Baroque style. At the end of the guided visit, enjoy a typical Sicilian coffee break including one cannolo and one coffee or one cappuccino, followed by 45 minutes of free time. At the conclusion of your tour you can leisurely walk back to the pier with your guide or continue to spend time in town returning to the ship on your own. Please note : Wear comfortable walking shoes, a hat, and sunscreen. Proper attire that covers shoulders and knees is required for both men and women to enter religious venues. This tour is not suitable for those with walking difficulties because of the many stairs and slopes to climb.

Trapani, Concierge Collection: Erice & Cooking Class at Palazzo Nuara *

The tour will start with a guided visit to Erice . You'll explore this medieval town and wander the winding cobbled streets. Visit the outside of Mother Church that's stood here for over 700 years, and admire the Castle of Venus where the son of Athena, goddess of love, built a temple in his mother's honor. But save some sighs for the gorgeous Balio Gardens in all their rainbow bright glory where you will have free time at your leisure. Then, it's on to meet a professional Sicilian chef for your cooking demonstration . There are three dishes on the agenda today - fish couscous, caponata (a Sicilian vegetable dish), and bruschetta alla trapanese (bruschetta topped with pesto). You will receive a certificate at the end of the class, and then it's time to enjoy your creations. Please note : Comfortable walking shoes, hat, and sunscreen are recommended. Trapani, Erice *

To see the best of Sicily, you have to climb to great heights. And on this trip you'll do exactly that. After a 45-minute coach drive to the cable station, you'll take the cable car up to the top of a mountain. Take in the view out over the Trapani Salt Pans , the turquoise sea and all the way to the Egadi Islands - it's breathtaking. While you're up here, you'll explore the medieval town that is Erice . For those with an appreciation of "The Godfather" series, many of the places visited in this tour will seem familiar. Leaving the pier by coach, you will begin with a brief drive through Messina for a 45-minute drive via the freeway and then motor along the coastal road bordered by villas, flowering gardens, and picturesque villages to reach Savoca . Its scenic beauty and historical-artistic heritage makes Savoca, one of the most attractive and unknown places of Sicily. In a private house in the village, "Bar Vitelli," houses a collection of local artisans' tools and photographs taken when Francis Ford Coppola shot scenes of "The Godfather II." After a typical refreshment begin a walking tour along the village's main street past two Churches of the 15th and 16th centuries, ( Santa Lucia and San Michele ) and to enjoy the view over the valley. Continue to Forza d'Agro, a 20-minute drive towards Taormina , a charming little village overlooking the Arab-Norman castle of Capo Sant'Alessio. In 1990, Al Pacino and Sophia Coppola arrived there to shoot scenes for the film, "The Godfather III." From the main square, a lane leads up to the circular steps, which ascend to the Gothic-Catalan portal in front of the Church of St. Agostino also known as "Triade. Sorrento, Boat Tour to Positano *

Sorrento, Herculaneum *

The city of Herculaneum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was founded around the 4th century B.C., copying the geometric regularity of the layout of Naples. Its "decumani" (main streets) have an east-west orientation, while the "cardines" (narrower streets) run north-south. There is undeniably a "feeling" about Herculaneum, quite different from Pompeii, where you get the impression that its ancient population of 5,000 packed up and left only moments ago. Herculaneum was smaller than Pompeii but is better preserved simply because, while hot ashes consumed the wood of Pompeii's buildings, Herculaneum was covered by hot mud which sealed and protected entire city blocks. This means that marble floors, mosaics, paintings and carbonized woods can still be admired today. You will discover the ancient luxurious properties and villas including the House of the Mosaic , the House of Deer , the Thermae (baths) and the House of Carbonized Furniture .
